BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL IMPACTS OF DISTURBANCE OF HEARING PROCESSING IN ELDERLY INDIVIDUALS

Abstract :

 The aim of this study is to demonstrate through a theoretical review, auditory processing and its alterations in the

elderly, the biopsychosocial impacts that this disorder causes, as well as some resources that can be used to reduce
the lags in the auditory processing involved in auditory processing. Since with aging the auditory system becomes less accurate and more
conducive to the development of such changes. The data collection was carried out through a systematic review of the literature present in
didactic books, course completion papers, master‘s thesis, doctoral theses and scientiô€ƒ¶c articles obeying the norms of the Brazilian Society
of Speech and Heå journal. A synthesis of the researches that report on auditory processing disorders in elderly individuals, as well as the
communication difficulties faced by them, was presented. He concluded that there are several imbalances caused by the auditory
processing disorder in the elderly, so it is necessary to continue scienti􀃶c studies in this area to apply adequate interventional measures in
order to guarantee the rehabilitation of the individual in time to minimize the effects of auditory disorder in this population.
