DETERMINANTS OF SELF EXCLUSION: A STUDY ON THE DETERRENTS OF INSURANCE ON LIFE OF SELF AND SIGNIFICANT OTHERS

Abstract :

<p> The phenomenon of self exclusion wherein a prospective customer decides not to insure the life of self and others, in </p> <div>whom he/she has insurable interest, is widely prevalent. This study proposes to investigate into the phenomenon of self </div> <div>exclusion from insurance of life of self and others in whom potential buyers have insurable interest. The objective of the </div> <div>study is to discover the factors that dissuade the potential subscribers from availing of insurance cover on life. The study uses qualitative as well </div> <div>as secondary sources of data. The study finds that one of the reasons for self exclusion is the perception of investors that a rupee earned today is </div> <div>more profitable than the rupee earned tomorrow.</div>
