Abstract :

BACKGROUND: This study was designed to evaluate the histological grading along withEstrogen, Progesterone and Her2/neu receptor status and its correlation in Medical college,Baroda between December 2017 to October 2018.METHOD: Resected specimen and biopsies of east lesions were submitted to the Histopathologysection, Baroda Medical College for histopathological examination. The tissues of the testpopulation submitted were evaluated by histopathological processing and examination (HPE).Thereafter the most suitable tissue block was selected for IHC evaluation.RESULTS: Out of the 46MRM cases of east carcinoma in this study,Grading was done onlyin 43cases, as 1 case was of Invasive lobular carcinoma and 2cases were ofMetaplasticCarcinoma.Grade I tumors show 75% positivity in IHC groups {ER/PR+,Her2-},while 35.48 % of Grade II tumors show {ER/PR+,Her2-}and 50% Grade III tumors shows{ER/PR-,Her2-}CONCLUSION:As the tumor grade increases ER /PRexpression decreases while there is no correlation found between histological grade andHer2/neu expression. The 43 cases included in the study Grade I tumors show 75% positivity inIHC groups {ER/PR+,Her2-} implying the better prognosis while 50% Grade III tumors shows{ER/PR-,Her2-} associated with poor prognosis. Prognostic accuracy improves with incorporationof IHC into the histopathology report along with the traditional TNM staging and histologicalgrading.
