COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF DESENSITIZING POTENTIAL OF DIODE LASER THERAPY AND CASEIN PHOSPHOPEPTIDE - AMORPHOUS CALCIUM PHOSPHATE (CPP-ACP)

Dr. Moksha Nayak, Dr. Angeline Jose

Abstract :

A total of thirty teeth from patients aged between 20 and 50 years with cervical dentin hypersensitivity were chosen and were randomly allocated to one of the 3 treatment groups. Group 1– received casein phosphopeptide–amorphous calcium phosphate, group 2– diode laser therapy, group 3– combination of diode laser and CPP– ACP at the cervical region of tooth. The sensitivity scores were recorded preoperatively, immediately after the treatment and 1 week after therapy using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). The VAS scores were statistically analysed using ANOVA and post hoc tests. Results of the study showed that all methods were successful in relieving the cervical sensitivity of the patients. Laser and CPP–ACP combination therapy showed maximum desensitizing potential post operatively followed by laser alone and the least was shown by CPP–ACP alone. Laser efficiency was better than CPP–ACP
