Abstract :

Scrub typhus is the most important re–emerging causes of acute feile illnesses in India. Caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi transmitted to humans by an arthropod vector. It presents like any other acute feile illness, however if left untreated it progresses to involve multiple systems and can be fatal. We are presenting a cohort of 16 serologically proven Scrub typhus patients admitted at our institution during the months of April to November. Although it has been common knowledge that scrub is prevalent in hilly areas and forests, the recent trend has challenged that belief, wherein most of our patients belonged to sub urban Kolkata
