Randomized Trial to Compare of Combination of Mifepristone Plus Misoprostol Versus Misoprostol Alone for Induction of Labour In Subject of Iufd Between 20 to 32 Weeks of Pregnancy.

Abstract :

Objective:Tocompareefficacy,safetyandtoleranceofcombination ofmifepristone andmisoprostol versusmisoprostol-onlyininductionofintrauterinefetaldeath(IUFD)between 20 to 32 weeks of pregnancy. Materialsandmethods:Thisprospectivestudyincludedaconsecutive seriesof100womenwithIUFDbetween 20 - 32weeksofgestationfromJanuary2013toOctober2014.Women were dividedintotwogroups.Firstgroupofwomenreceivedasingleoraldoseof200mgmifepristone,and100ugofin travaginal misoprostol wasadministered,followedbyintravaginal 100µg misoprostolatfourhourlyintervalsifrequired.Secondgroupofwomenr eceived100µgmisoprostolat fourhourlyintervalpervaginally(maximum4 doses).Oxytocinwasgivenforaugmentationif needed. Results:Theinduction-to-deliverytimewasshorterwiththe combinationregimen(p<0.001)group.The totaldoseofmisoprostolneededwaslowerinthegrouppre-treatedwithmifepristone (p<0.001). Conclusion:Bothregimens,misoprostol-onlyandthecombinationofmifepristoneandmisoprostolare safeininductionoflaborafterintrauterine fetaldeath(IUFD).Pre-treatmentwithmifepristoneismore effectiveintermsofreducingofinductiondeliveryinterval,requirementoflesserdoseof misoprostol.
