Synthesis and Biological activity of Sulfonamide and Carbamate Derivatives of 5–Chloro–2–Phenoxyaniline

Abstract :
Synthesis of a series of novel sulfonamide and carbamate derivatives of 5–chloro–2–phenoxy–aniline (1), were prepared by reacting(1) with various substituted sulfonylchlorides and chloroformates in the presence of triethylamine in THF at 500C.Their structures were established by IR, 1H, 13C–NMR, Mass spectral data and elemental analysis. Theirinvitro antimicrobial activity was evaluated and the title compounds 2a, 2e, 3a and 3d exhibited excellent activity against all the bacterial strains, 2a and 3a showed good activity against E.coliandP. Vulgaris.
