One of the most catastrophic event in neonatal practice is haemorrhagic diathesis. The neonatologist is exposed to a number of conditions where the complications like disseminated intravascular coagulation, sepsis, intracranial haemorrhage arise. ^1,2 Most of the parinatal haemorrhages now observed in neonates born to high risk mothers i.e. mothers with pre–eclampsia, abruptio placenta, are due to intravascular coagulopathies ³.
