The determination of the age of being a major (18 years or more) is required for the individual and the law enforcement agencies specially when the age of the person is doubtful or necessary documents are not available for confirmation of age and this becomes a task of considerable importance from the view–point of administration of justice. Radiographic changes during epiphyseal union of long bone ends are important means to determine the age of adolescent and young adults. Current radiological study mainly aims to establish whether the subject belongs to major age or not and also whether the age told by the subject corresponds to the age determined by this method or not. The study included AP radiographs of Right Shoulder, Elbow and Wrist regions of all the individuals. The study was carried out in 164 subjects including 32 (19.5%) males and 132 (80.5%) females, in the age group of 16 – 27 years who presented themselves for this purpose in L N Medical college and J K Hospital Bhopal (Central India).
