A study to assess the postnatal depression among the postpartum mothers during Puerperium at selected area of Bhopal. The present study was aimed to assess the postnatal depression among the post partum mothers during   puerperium and to determine the association between depression among the post partum mothers with selected demographic variables. The study was conducted in selected areas of Bhopal (Karondh and Bairagarh), Madhya–Pradesh. Cross sectional descriptive study design, 60 postpartum mothers purposively recruited from the research setting were administered Edinburgh Depression scale. The study revealed 18.33% prevalence of postnatal depression in postpartum mothers. Prevalence of postnatal depression was higher, in the higher and lower age extremes among postpartum mothers. Prevalence of postnatal depression was higher in the low income postpartum mothers (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant association between prevalence of postnatal depression and type of family, religion and educational status among postpartum mothers.
