Acinetobacterbaumannii  is a significant pathogen in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of hospitals with a growingincidence ofmulti–drug resistant (MDR) strains. Present study was undertaken to know anti–microbial suscecptibiltypattern of A.baumannii fromvariousclinicalsamples collected from patientsadmittedin ICU at

Chintpurani Medical college & Hospital, Bungal Pathankot overa periodof six months from November 2017 to

April2018. Atotal of 45isolates  ofA.baumnnii wereobtained from 120 samples37.5% .Anti–microbialsusceptibility testingwas done byKirby–Bauer Disk Diffusion method. Maximumisolates of A. baumannii  were obtained fromtracheal aspirate  64%  frompurulent aspirate 55%FromEndotrachealsecretions39%followed

bySputum18%, Urine22%,Blood 29%,Pus40%,Drain fluid  33% and  CSF 10%.AllA.baumnniiisolates

were highlyresistantto  Cefaperazone(95%), CefuroximeandCefotaxime(93%),CeftazidimeandAmpicillin

Sulbacutm(91%). Higher level of resistance was also recorded for Amikacin (89%), Gentamicin (89%), Piperacillin–   tazobactum (87%),Ofloxacin (87%), Ciprofloxacin (87%),Lomefloxacin (84%),Neticillin(84%), Pefloxacin (84%). Resistance towards Meropenem was recordedas (53%) and Imipenem as (47%). Minimum resistance wasshown towards Polymixin B (13%) and Colistin (11%). Strict adherence to infection control helped toreducedthe burden of this pathogen.
