VISHAL Dr. August 2018 7 8 01 02 ABSTRACT

Propofol is induction of choice in most of the surgery, however it causes profound pain on injection lead patient dissatisfaction. Routinely, intravenous preservative free lignocaine is used for prevention of pain due to injection of propofol. In this study, ondansetron a specific 5HT3 receptor antagonist was used to compare the efficacy. 90adult patients belonging to ASA physical status I or II, scheduled for elective surgeries under general anaesthesia were randomly allocated into two groups A, B and C. Group A 5ml of 0.9% NS Group Breceived Inj lignocaine 50 mg and group B received Inj ondansetron 4mg as retreatment, before injection of propofol. Comparing pain during propofol injection Ondansetron 4mg pre–treatment reduces the incidence and less incidence of PONV.
