Although the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses occupy a relatively small anatomical space, they are the site of origin of some of the more complex, histologically diverse group of tumors in the entire human body. Inflammatory polyps are the commonest  lesions. 130 cases of sinonasal mass  for a period of two years were studied. 1% Toluidine blue stain for mast cell was done and the same was counted and expressed both in sqmm and per HPF.

We found that Mast cell density was more in benign lesions (61.9±17.9/sq mm) than malignant lesions (6.3/sq mm). Among the malignant lesion more aggressive tumors like alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma and small cell CA had lower mast cell density than that of PLGA. Inflammatory nasal polyp having history of allergy had severe eosinophilic infiltration.
