COPD is a disease with airflow limitation that is irreversible and usually progressive. It is currently 4th leading cause of death globally. CRP is a systemic marker of inflammation and tissue damage. Airflow limitation in COPD is associated with an abnormal inflammatory response which is marked by increase of Serum Hs–CRP level. Treatment of COPD with inhaled corticosteroids resulted in the reduction of serum CRP levels. Both types of patients (treated and not treated for COPD) were included. Blood samples were taken and CRP measured with using a high sensitivity CRP assay. 100 patients were included with M/F ratio of 5.67:1. Mean Hs–CRP value was 5.52±3.58 mg/L. Mean Hs–CRP levels had significant low in patients having treatment with Inhaled steroids or oral theophylline and no correlation with inhaled and oral β2 agonists.
