Modified constraint induced movement therapy (mCIMT) and Mirror therapy (MT) are two techniques which has proved its effectiveness in treatment of stroke subjects. The majority of evidence focuses on chronic stroke. So, the aim of this study is to compare the effect of mCIMT and MT on upper extremity motor recovery and functional status in sub acute stroke subjects. Materials and methods: Total of 42 stroke subjects were randomized into two group i.e. MT (Group A) and mCIMT (Group B). Pre and post intervention outcome measures were taken using Action research arm test, Box and Block test, Nine–hole Peg test and overall functional status by Functional independence measure. Result: Subjects of both group showed statistically significant improvements in all the variables measured (p<0∙05) which was more in mCIMT group when compared to the MT group. Conclusion: The present study confirms that mCIMT is an effective treatment technique to improve upper extremity motor recovery, hand and finger dexterity and functional status in stroke subjects compare to MT.
