India has now become the “Diabetes capital of the world”. Health of doctor is of paramount importance as they are safe keepers of the society. Their typical life style makes them more vulnerable to Diabetes and obesity. The study was undertaken to estimate the prevalence of obesity and diabetes among doctors of Palakkad district. A cross–sectional study was undertaken and total 180 doctors were interviewed using Indian Diabetic Risk scoring questionnaire and their weight, height and RBS were measured with necessary precautions. The WHO Asian BMI classification was used for assessing obesity. The prevalence of overweight and obesity were 42.8% & 40% respectively. More than half 53.3% of doctors were medium risk and 26.7% had high risk scoring for diabetes. The statistically significant association was obtained between age, qualification, BMI and IDRS score. This study reveals the need for early detection of diabetes and lifestyle modification among doctor population
