Fifty seven female patients with locally advanced breast carcinoma (LABC) who were treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) were included in the study between October 2017 to September 2019 . Mean age of presentation was 49 years. Premenopausal and postmenopausal group were 40.4% and 59.6% respectively. The clinical size of breast and axillary tumors was determined before each of three cycles of NACT and before surgery. Overall clinical response of 59.6% was noted, however overall tumor resectibily of 86% was observed. Tumor response to NACT was clinically complete (cCR), partial (cPR), stable (cSD), or progressive disease (cPD) observed in 10.5%, 19.1%, 26.3% & 14 respectively. Overall clinical response in estrogen receptor negative patients was 100% and in estrogen receptor positive patients was 21.4%. Pathological complete response was found in 18.9% LABC patients. Hence this study concluded that NACT in LABC could downstage the disease so as to make most of the inoperable tumor to operable one and thus made it possible to resect locally advanced disease with tumor free margin in most cases. The patients with hormone receptor negativity and pathological complete response were associated with improved outcome.
