N. Disale Dr. January 2020 9 1 01 02 ABSTRACT

Screening and isolation of Laccase producing bacteria from Raigad District soil was carried out to assess the diversity of Lignocellulose degrading bacteria. For isolation Laccase producing bacteria nutrient medium containing guaiacol was used. Total ten isolates were isolated from soil samples collected from different regions of Raigad district. Preliminary screening of Laccase producing bacteria was carried out by growing isolated colonies on to the nutrient medium containing guaiacol. Green colour formation by using ABTS confirms the potential laccase producing capability of isolates. Ten bacterial isolates showed positive results. As an outcome predominant isolates were identified as Pseudomonas spp. Bacillus sp. The findings show that these microorganisms have significant potential for use in applications for the treatment of Lignocellulose degradation and lignin related environment pollutants.
