Introduction: Incidence of second stage cesarean section is increasing. Objective: To assess intra–operative and postoperative maternal morbidity up to end of first week in second stage cesarean section. Results: Overall cesarean section rate was 21.02% in our hospital, out of which 102 (2.99%) were performed in second stage of labour. Maternal intra–operative complications such as atonic postpartum hemorrhage 5.88%, extension of uterine incision 3.9%, bladder injury 1.96% and uterine rupture 1.96% were observed. Blood transfusion was required in 9.8% women. Postpartum morbidity observed was purpereal febrile events5.88% and wound infection 4.99%. Conclusion: Second stage cesarean section is associated with increased maternal morbidity
