Class II malocclusions can be either dental or skeletal in origin. Dental malocclusions can be corrected by pure orthodontics, but an option between growth modulation, camouflage and surgery exists for those patients whose cause of malocclusion is skeletal in origin. If the patient is adult whose growth has been completed, the number of options is reduced to either surgical, or camouflage. To achieve ideal occlusion and Harmony amongst the skeletal jaw bases, surgery is till date the best option. Various surgeries are available that assist in correction of the malocclusion, depending upon which jaw is at fault. This review article highlights such types of surgeries and their appropriate use.
