The aims and objectives were to correlate the effect of factors such as size, number, location, DJ stents in situ, medical expulsive therapy and stone density (HU UNITS) on stone clearance by Extracorporeal Short Wave Lithotripsy(ESWL). It’s a prospective study with study duration of 24 months.Total 100 patients were included in the study .Patients with radio opaque calculi sized 5mm to 2.5 cm in the kidney & upper ureter, indicated for ESWL , admitted and outdoor patients in Seth G.S Medical College & KEM Hospital, Mumbai, India, from September 2017 to July 2019, were included in the study. Total numbers of patients included in this study were 100, of which 72 (72%) were cleared of stones. Percentage clearance of stone in the small diameter group (5mm–10mm) was 92%, in the medium diameter group (10.1mm–20mm) was 74%, and in the large diameter (20.1–25mm) group was 50%. The success of ESWL treatment was only 46% in the lower calyceal stone site group compared to 79% in the case of other stone sites ( P–value = 0.012).
