Background: Traumatic fingertip injuries are most frequent hand injuries that present to surgeons for treatment. Replantation of distal tip injuries is ideal in cases suitable for microsurgical repair however; it may not be possible in all cases. Other soft tissue reconstructive options must be considered when replantation is not possible or considered. Methods: This study was conducted in a tertiary care centre presenting with finger tip injuries over a period of 42 months in 64 patients. Results: Treatment options included conservative management, primary closure, skin grafting and flaps. There was no skin graft or flaps loss. Conclusion: Finger tip injuries can be managed by a variety of methods and not all require microsurgical reconstruction. This paper offers a method of evaluation and presents non microsurgical treatment options in fingertip injuries.
