Introduction: Coronavirus which recently become pandemic around the globe. The International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses named the virus as SARS–CoV–2 and disease as COVID–19. The transmission rate of SARS–CoV–2 is higher due to mutational transformation and genetic recombination properties.COVID–19 is an infectious disease. WHO declared it as deadly and10 times deadlier than the 2009 flu pandemic. Government of India is taking all necessary steps to face the challenge and threat posed by the growing pandemic of COVID–19, ultimately decided for 21 days countrywide lock down till 14th April 2020 thereby extended to till 3rd May 2020. Materials and Methods: Determination of secondary analysis of existing national and international data of COVID–19 infection till the end of first phase of Lockdown in India was performed in this study. Results: In present situation, among Indian states, 12.4% recovery rate with 3.6% case fatality rate (CFR) were observed. Jharkhand showed maximum C.F.R (8.3%) while Goa was showing maximum recovery rate (71.4%) and 8 states exhibited not a single case of recovery. Among union territories, CFR in Delhi (1.9%) and J&K (1.5%) was found and Andaman and Nicobar Islands showed maximum recovery rate (90.9%) followed by Ladakh (66.7%), Chandigarh (33.3%) and Puducherry (14.3%) etc. Recovery rate of 23.7% and Case Fatality Rate of 6.3% was seen worldwide whereas India exhibited recover rate (11%) with CFR (3.3%) till 14th April 2020. Conclusion: The transmission of novel coronavirus infection in India was highly restricted in its initial stages by landmark decision of Lockdown measures. Suggestive measures of lockdown should be followed strictly, maintaining social distancing and by increasing the social awareness among the people can lead to minimize this pandemic
