Introduction: The disease Tuberculosis play a major role in mortality and it is the ninth leading cause of death in world wide. Tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacteria Tuberculosis complex. Clinically it is classified as pulmonary, extra–pulmonary or both. Tubercular lymphadenopathy is most common in extra pulmonary cases. Pulmonary Tuberculosis is easy to diagnose as compared to extra–pulmonary because of more number of bacilli are present and it is easy to collect the sample. Material & Methods: A total of 96 suspected OPD and IPD cases of Tubercular lymphadenitis were enrolled in this study from July 2019 to December 2019. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) were done on 96 patients with clinical suspicion of tuberculosis presenting with lymphadenopathy. Smears from the aspirates were processed for routine cytology and the ZN stain. Results: Among the 96 aspirates, 49% (85/150) were indicative of tuberculosis on cytology, 38% (55/150) were positive for AFB on ZN stain method, and 12 were positive on montoux. Conclusion: FNAC on H&E stain serves as the most accurate method for the diagnosis of tubercular lymphadenopathy & staining with ZN stain and mantoux test in all suspected cases may improve the diagnostic accuracy.
