Stress among medical undergraduate students is a growing problem worldwide. The study aims to predict stress level and various contributing stressors among 99 first year medical students using validated Medical Student’s Stressor Questionnaire (MSSQ). Study shows higher prevalence of stress of 67.7 % among first year undergraduate students. Stress levels were more in females than males students for most of the MSSQ domains except for Social Related Stressor (SRS) and Drive Desire Related Stressor (DDRS) domains. Stress levels were more in students residing at hostel than students residing at home but not statistically significant. The top stressors that caused severe degree of stress among the students were from the Academic Related Stressors (ARS) domain. The stressor that caused least stress was unwillingness to study medicine. Becoming a medical doctor is a dream profession nowadays. Students should be encouraged to adopt various stress copying skills in an early phase.
