One of the reasons people are enthusiastic about oadband is that they expect it to ing some of the more urban amenities to their town, therefore fulfilling the education and entertainment needs of young people and making their community more attractive. ICT program has been kicked off to idge the information gap for rural development but being the new tool it has many challenges. One of them includes the administration to capture the needs of the rural people, mostly illiterate, to make them accustomed to the new technology which is completely alien to them. This paper discusses the scope of contribution of communication technology on the road to India’s rural development and the challenges that come along.
