Evaluating Musculoskeletal Complications Among Individuals With Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract :

 Introduction - Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a neurologic movement disorder of the limbs that is often associated with a sleep complaint. Patients with RLS may report sensations, such as an almost irresistible urge to move the legs that are not painful but are distinctly bothersome. RLS can lead to significant physical and emotional disability.

Material & Methods- This study was conducted in Sir Sunderlal hospital Banaras Hindu University over the period of 6 months. Total 60 patients were selected for study.  Specific Physiotherapy treatment was given and changes noted after study.

Results- out of 60 restless leg syndrome cases 40 patients were obese having high BMI.

Conclusion-We can see from this study that just lifestyle modification make a huge change in pathophysiology and symptoms of RLS. So our first line therapy should be weight reduction and lifestyle modification and along with treatment of TENS. So our first line therapy should be weight reduction and lifestyle modification and prescribing TENS therapy .
