Mortality in Nilgai (Boselaphus tragocamelus): A Case Report

Abstract :

 A carcass of Neilgai (Boselaphus tragocamelus) was presented to the Department of Pathology, NVC, Nagpur. Detail postmortem examination was conducted. On the gross observation it is noted that lungs, kidneys and liver were severely congested. There were multiple dog bite injuries on tail, thigh, back and thorax region. There was fracture at 9th to 12th rib with formation of pus cavity. Microscopically, lung and liver showed severe congestion. On the basis of gross observation sample from pus cavity was collected for microbiological examination which on colony characteristics and grams staining confirmed as Escherichia coli.
