Abstract :

The present research paper intended to know about the ongoing rural poverty alleviation programmes in Andhra Pradesh. Discussed about the poverty measurements taken by the State Government through Indira Kranthi Patham programme on selected respondents, which has been major rural poverty reduction programme in the state. The study is based on primary data and focuses on the social and economic dimensions of rural poverty especially education and health which are main contributors for Human Development. The findings show that IKP has ought much change in the poverty status of the rural people, the proportion of Coastal Andhra respondents comparatively higher than that of other two regions under study
