Abstract :

Open apices makes routine root canal treatment often challenging, and treatment of choice for such teeth with immature root apex is apexification. It facilitates favorable conditions for conventional root canal obturation. Recently interest has been expressed with the use of biomimetic materials like Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine. The substantial use of Biodentine and MTA owing to its biomimetic activity further leads to healing of periapical radiolucency and bone formation encouraging successful clinical outcome. This case series describes single visit apexification in maxillary central incisors and mandibular premolar with a necrotic pulp and an open apex using Biodentine and MTA as an apical barrier, signifying their regeneration potential.
