RECENT ADVANCES IN COMPOSITE RESINS- A REVIEW

Abstract :
The increasing demand for improving the esthetics and restoration performance led to the introduction of resin based dental materials , that was a revolution in restorative dentistry. These resin composites were not just aesthetically morepleasing but it also reinforcedthe tooth as itconserves more tooth structure in preparation design.But,the early formulations of these resin composite materials had numerous drawbacks such as poor handling characteristics and polymerizationshrinkage. Therefore, there was a need to improve its properties that led to the development of its advances. Thus the aim of this review is to discuss the recent advances in composite resins.
