SPINOCEREBELLAR ATAXIA : A CASE REPORT

Abstract :

SCA1 is characterised by the development in the early or middle adult life of progressive cerebellar ataxia of trunk and limbs, impairment of equiliium and gait, slowness of voluntry movements, scanning speech, nystagmus, dysarthria, dysphagia, rigidity. We report a case of genetically confirmed spinocerebellar ataxia type 1 (SCA1). The patient was a 35–year–old man who complained of gait instability and speech difficulties. Brain MRI showed marked atrophy of the cerebellum.
