The Perception of Knowledge Regarding Menstruation Among the High School Students of Kalaburagi District- A Factor Analysis Approach

Abstract :

Knowledge regarding menstruation, reproduction, contraception and diet is still lacking among school girls. Adolescent period is very important for females as it is a transition phase characterized by rapid physical growth, psychological and behavioral changes. Adolescence is defined by the world health organization as the age group between 10 and 19 years. Menarche generally occurs between the ages of 11 and 15 years with a mean of around 13 years [Rakhi Jain et al, (2017)]. The present study aimed at studying the awareness levels of menstruation and related aspects among adolescent school going girls, in the age group of 12 to 16 years, of 5 talukas of Kalaburagi district. A factor analysis approach is used to find the most decisive awareness factors regarding the perception of knowledge among the high school students of Kalaburagi district
