A CASE OF LIVER ABSCESSES WITH SPETIC EMBOLI IN THE LUNGS

Abstract :

A liver abscess is a pus–filled mass inside the liver. Common causes are abdominal conditions such as appendicitis or diverticulitis due to haematogenous spread through the portal vein. Patients typically present with non–specific constitutional symptoms, RUQ abdominal pain, and tenderness. The most common underlying condition in people with pyogenic liver abscess is biliary tract disease. Treatment of pyogenic abscess focuses on both timely administration of oad–spectrum antibiotics and drainage of the abscess. Here I present a case of liver abscess with complications which responded to the treatment after proper diagnosis..
