A clinical study to evaluate the effectiveness of Immunogens using MMR vaccine in different types of cutaneous warts

Abstract :

BACKGROUND– Cutaneous warts are benign epithelial proliferations caused by HPV. Warts are major concern for patients due to cosmetic disfigurement. Various treatments are available but still none has proved to be ideal. Recently immunotherapeutic agents which stimulate host’s immune response have gained popularity as an efficacious modality. METHOD– 40 Patients of cutaneous warts were injected with 0.5 ml of MMR vaccine after reconstitution. Maximum two warts were injected at interval of 3weeks, maximum 4 injections. At each visit changes in the warts were evaluated. 3months follow up was done. RESULTS–Complete Response was observed in about 79% and no response in 2.6% patients with no Recurrence and no major adverse effects. Distant wart clearance in 85% patients.
