Abstract :

Platelets play a vital role in the maintenance of normal hemostatic activity. Patients with severe thrombocytopenia are presumed to be at increased risk of bleeding; consequently it has been standard practice to give allogeneic platelet transfusion to such patients as a supportive care. In the present prospective, observational study, the effectiveness of random donor and single donor platelet therapy in patients with during a period of one year was assessed. There was no statistically significant difference between SDP and RDP based on 1h CCI and 24h CCI.
