A Retrospective Study of Malaria Prevalence at Bilaspur District (Chhattisgarh), India

Abstract :

Background:–A retrospective study on malaria was carried out from 2004 to 2009 in an area of unstable malaria in the Bilaspur district in Chhattisgarh state of India. It is a district of tribal block as Marwahi, Pendra,Gaurilla in the district.These blocks have of this district P. falciparum was prevalent; however, the risk of P. falciparum malaria was 58.7 % (average of six years from 2004–2009) and.(95% confidence interval [CI] = 57.4–61.6%), An increasing trend was recorded in malaria prevalence from 48.0% in 2004 to 63.2% in 2009 (odds ratio [OR] = 3.0, 95% CI = 1.6–3.5) that increased to 57.3% in 2005 (OR = 1.6, 95% Confidence Interval(CI) = 1.2–2.1) of the district.
