Abstract :

 Profit is a measure of overall efficiency of business. In the words of Lord Keynes, "Profit is the engine that drives the business enterprise". It is indeed a magic eye that mirrors all aspects of the entire business operations including the quality of output. This article presents the review of literature relating to the study carried out by various academicians, economists and researchers in the area of profitability in order to understand the research problem.
