A STUDY OF PREDICTORS OF HYPOXEMIA IN CHILDREN WITH LOWER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTION

Abstract :

Children between the age group 2 months to 5 years admitted in a tertiary care hospital (DMCH) with an acute history of cough and rapid respiration or difficulty in eathing during the period of April 2018 to September 2019.Among 100 children who met inclusion and exclusion criteria, 46 children had hypoxemia (Spo2 <90%) and 54 children had Spo2 ≥90%.53.0% children were male and 47.0% children were female, the male to female ratio is1.1:1. 19.3% children weremalnourished.Acute lower respiratory tract infections are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among children in developing countries.
