A Study of Socio–Demographic Profile amongst the Female Migrant Labourers and Assessment of Health, Nutritional and Immunization Status of their Children in Campus of Civil Hospital, A'bad

Abstract :

Introduction: Construction workers are more vulnerable to health and social issues. The present study assessed the Maternal and child health issues among migratory families. Materials and Methodology: A cross sectional study was conducted at the construction sites of Civil Hospital campus during November 2011- Feuary 2012. Interviews of all the female workers living at the sites were taken with the help of a pre-designed and pre-tested structured questionnaire. Total 72 migrant females and 60 children formed the study population. Results: The mean age at marriage was 17 years and the illiteracy rate was around 66% in the female workers. The prevalence of underweight, wasting and stunting among their children were 63.3%, 51% and 35% respectively, proportion of children exclusively east fed upto 6 Months was 88.33% and 6.67% children were found fully immunized.
