Abstract :
Background:Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia presents in 60% of term and 80% of preterm neonates and about 5% develop pathological jaundice within first week of life.2,3 Aims:The main objective is to study the association between levels of cord blood albumin and detection of significant neonatal jaundice at 48 hours of life in correlation with krammer staging and to predict the proportion of newborn requiring intervention. Materials and Methods:A cross sectional study was conducted among 132 neonates delivered at ALLURI SITARAMA RAJU ACADEMY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES. Study period of 12months between January2019 to December2019.Collected data wereanalysed using SPSS 24.0. Results: In this study conducted, we found only sibling history of neonatal jaundice having statistical significance.Cord blood albumin levels less than 2.8gm/dl mostly belonged to krammer stage >/= to 3 and they required phototherapy. Conclusions:This study shows that cord blood albumincan be used to predictsignificant hyperbilirubinemia after 48hrs of life
