A STUDY ON PERSONALITY TRAITS OF PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS UNDERGOING B.ED COURSE IN THOOTHUKUDI DISTRICT

Abstract :

 The purpose of this study was to examine the personality traits of the prospective teachers. Personality can be defined on many levels like educational, psychological and social. At the levels of teaching and learning, researchers are looking for those aspects of personality trait affect nature and the quality of the learning process. In this present study, the investigator has attempted to study the personality traits of prospective teachers in terms of background variables. The sample consisted of 763 prospective teachers studying in colleges of education in Thoothukudi district. The data were collected data, using survey method. Finally, the data were analyzed by using percentage analysis and differential analysis (t–test). The result reveals that there was significant difference found in personality traits among the prospective teachers. The level of personality traits of prospective teachers in Thoothukudi district is average. The present study also shows that there is no significance differences observed among the sex, type of family, locality of college, type of college of the prospective teachers in their personality traits.
