An Appraisal of Natural Tourist Attractions in Tamil Nadu, India

Abstract :
Tamil Nadu has been bestowed by nature with a long Coramandel coast line, as well as hilly regions of Eastern and Western Ghats, very rich in diverse plant and animal life besides scenic beauty. Nature has bestowed Tamil Nadu with countless number of tourist spots. Notable picturesque hill resorts are Udhagamandalam, Kodaikanal and Yercaud. Beaches constitute one more natural attraction for tourists to Tamil Nadu. The natural tourist wealth of the State can be oadly grouped into five types, namely i) Hill Stations, ii) Wildlife Sanctuaries, iii) Waterfalls and Dams, iv) Lakes and v) Beaches. Secondary data required for this study was collected from different sources. In the present study an attempt is made to describe an appraisal of natural tourist attractions in Tamil Nadu.
