Abstract :
Very few of Indian population have access to clean safe drinking water while rest of the population have no access to safe drinking water. Physico chemical parameters of water at many places are changing with high pace. Contamination of such water source is a big problem creating health hazards. Ground water samples were collected from various villages of Vav taluka ,District :Banaskantha, Gujarat and were analyzed on the basis of many qualitative parameters . The physico chemical parameters of water were compared with ICMR standards of water quality. The results obtained in the present investigation show that all the villages under study of Vav taluka have permissible values of pH, TDS and Dissolved Oxygen (D.O.) but many of the villages show a considerably high values of Chlorides, Sulphates, Nitrates and Fluorides. In the period of present course, the Fluoride amount was noticed in high range which may cause health hazards to living beings. The drinking water samples were taken from the main water sources which maximum peoples were using them for drinking purpose.
