Abstract :

Purpose: To study the mean Central corneal thickness and compare it and identify correlations between Central corneal thickness , age, and gender. Method: The study was conducted in 250 patients aged 20 to 69 years , presented in our Ophthalmology department from april to october 2019. Pateints were taken according inclusion and exclusion criteria. Detailed history and complete ocular examination was done. CCT was measured using Pachymeter. Result: Mean CCT for right eye was 525.8�34.6 �m, left eye was 526.1�33.7�m and was 527.8�32.2�m in men and 524.4�33.2 �m in women. Mean CCT in age group 20–29 years 542.4�10.3 μm, 30–39 years 535.0�6.4 μm.,40–49 years 528.2�7.0μm. , 50–59 years 516.8 �8.2μm., 60– 69 years 506.5�8.3μm.No statistically significant difference in CCT and gender. However, significant difference in subjects aged 20–29 years where men had higher CCT than women A statistically significant correlation was found between CCT and age. Conclusion: No statistical significant difference between CCT and gender found except in youngest age group. Statistical significance difference between CCT and age. CCT decreases with age increases.
