Attitude of Nursing Students toward Research

Abstract :

 

Background: In modern world, attitudes of people are considered more important than their experiences and academic preparation. A positive attitude towards research is a key to success and progress in the knowledge based societies Research is an extremely crucial element in the advancement and improvement of health care services provided to the public. Students usually tend to view research methods courses negatively. However, an understanding of these attitudes is necessary to help instructors facilitate the learning of research for their students, Objectives: To study students attitude towards research .and to identify issues or area to be address to enhance attitude of student toward Research. Material and Method: This study was based on descriptive research approach. Setting of the study was Smt. Radhikabai Meghe Memorial College of Nursing Sawangi (M) Wardha and SHPER (School of Health Professional Education and Research).The sample size was 200. Sampling technique used in the study was purposive sampling technique Seven point rating scale was used as a tool for data collection. Result: The findings show that Out of 200 students 2 (1%) students were neutral, 61 (30.5%) student were somewhat agree, 135 (67.5%) students were agree and 2(1%) students were strongly agree.the Overall mean score was 161.06±11.80 i.e. 71.90±5.26 %.Thus it show that the nursing students have positive attitude toward the Research. Lowest mean score was found in area of Research Difficulty and Research anxiety. Higher score was found in area Research usefulness and Affect in directing positive feeling toward Research

Conclusion: Based on findings, it was concluded that The results of the data gathered by using ATS scale, validate the conclusion that the Nursing students possess positive attitudes towards research.
