Today, healthcare is no longer stuck with the traditional way of doing things but nurses are coming with new ideas and tested solutions. Objectives: The objectives of the study were to: assess the awareness of the nursing professionals regarding Evidence based nursing and identify the barriers for implementation of evidence based nursing practice. Methodology: Crossectional study design was adopted for the study and after obtaining administrative permission from selected hospital informed consent from staff nurses was obtained and 60 nurses were selected randomly from different units. Results: The study results showed lack of sufficient knowledge among the staff nurses and the barriers identified were lack of resources, lack of time and lack of independence to change practice. Conclusion: Inspite of many advances in our nursing profession still much has to be achieved to fill in the gap in knowledge and practice thereby strengthening our nursing care services through research utilization in clinical practice
