Abstract :

Introduction :–The GOAL of our study is to evaluate and analyze the surgical outcome, safety and efficacy of suture free, glue free conjunctival autograft (SFGFCAG) after pterygium excision.

Materials &Methods :–This study was conducted in ASRAMS hospital, West Godavari over a period of 6 months i.e from 20/09/2017 – 20–12–2017. Total of 75 patients were operated using blood oozed at local pterygium excision site as adhesive instead of sutures and glue and postoperative results were noted.Preoperative& postoperative visual acuity were noted using snellens chart. Slitlampbiomicroscopy and grading of the pterygium was done.

Results :–A total of 75 patients were operated for pterygium excision with conjuntivalautograft using blood as bioadhesive. Graft related complications were noted in 2 patients along with recurrence in one patient.

Conclusion :–The above results suggest that this modality is a simple, fast, cost effective procedure alternative to pterygium excision with conjuntivalautograft  using sutures and glue.
