Abstract :

Background: Carcinoma in male east is very rare as compared to the female east. Fine needle aspiration cytology is an effective modality for early diagnosis of east lesions. Usually male east lesions are benign which affect the young male. Most common benign lesion in males is gynaecomastia. Breast cancer accounts for a small proportion of male east lesions. Objective: The aim of this study was to discern the incidence of carcinoma in male east lesions at our tertiary care centre. Methods: Records of 160 male patients who underwent fine needle aspiration cytology of the palpable east lump were collected and analyzed using percentage proportion. Results: In 160 male patients with east lesions, incidence of male east carcinoma was 4.3% which was chiefly seen in patients over 40 years of age. Conclusion: FNAC is a very sensitive and specific, rapid cost–effective diagnostic tool for the assessment of east lesions in male patients.
