Burden of Polycystic Ovarian disease (PCOD) in Non- ANC ultrasound study of female patients

Abstract :

 Introduction – Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)/ disease (PCOD) is a hyperandrogenic disorder associated with chronic oligo–anovulation,

polycystic ovarian sonographic morphology and menstrual irregularities.
Material and Methods This is a retrospective study and the data is collected through Radiology departmental registers at Veer Chandra Singh
Garhwali Government Medical Sciences and Research Institute, Srinagar, Uttarakhand, 2016. A probability (P) value of < 0.05 was taken for
statistical significance.
Results– A total of 29 female patients had PCOS. The mean age of patients was in years 27.17 (S.D±8.7)]. The Patients age 20 to 30 years was the
commonest to have Poly cystic ovarian disease. The most presenting complaint of patients diagnosed Poly cystic ovarian disease was
oligomenorrhea (58.6%). Two of the Poly cystic ovarian disease patients had associated finding, Adenomyosis with retroverted bulky uterus and
Pelvic inflammatory disease, respectively.
Conclusion– The sonographic diagnosis of PCOD with clinical signs and symptoms will help in institution of therapy for the same by the clinicians
and eventual correction of their disease.
